When we arrived in Christiansted for New Year we read about the Crucian Christmas Festival that was due to take place in Frederiksted on the west coast of the island. It sounded similar to the Grenada Carnival that we had enjoyed last August, so we decided to relocate to Fredericksted and check it out.
We started with the J’ouvert parade on January 2nd, which was very different from the one in Grenada where we were smeared with paint and engine oil. This was more subdued but fun to watch. On 4th January there was the Children’s Parade, but the real highlight was the BIG parade on 5th January, also known as the Three Kings Parade. It started at 10am and was still going strong when we left to go back to the boat at 6pm!
We hope you enjoy the photos.
